Knights of Lunar Painting League Update: May Entries Close 7th June & June's Challenge Is Now Live

May's Painting League Is Nearly Complete

The first full month of the Knights of Lunar Painting League has been fantastic to watch unfold.

We've seen hobbyists from across the UK pick up a brush, challenge themselves, and bring the official competition miniature to life in their own unique style. From first-time painters to experienced veterans, the variety of entries has been incredible.

As we move into June, we wanted to provide an update on where the Painting League currently stands, remind everyone about the final May submission deadline, and share some exciting improvements we plan to make moving forward.

Important Reminder

If you entered the May Painting League, all completed entries must be submitted by:

Sunday 7th June 2026

After this date, judging will begin and league points will be awarded.

If you've been putting the finishing touches on your miniature, now is the time to get those final photographs taken and submitted.

What Is the Knights of Lunar Painting League?

The Painting League is a monthly miniature painting competition designed to encourage hobbyists to paint more miniatures, improve their skills, and become part of a growing tabletop gaming community.

Each month participants receive:

  • An official competition miniature

  • Entry into that month's challenge

  • Eligibility for prizes

  • League points

  • The opportunity to have their work showcased

The Painting League is designed for all skill levels.

Whether you have painted hundreds of miniatures or are working on your very first model, everyone is welcome.

June's Painting League Is Now Open

While May's challenge comes to a close, June's competition is now live and ready for new entrants.

Entry Price

£12.99

What You Receive

Every entry includes:

  • The official June competition miniature

  • Entry into June's painting challenge

  • Eligibility for monthly prizes

  • League points towards future standings

  • The chance to be featured by Knights of Lunar

For many hobbyists, painting competitions provide the motivation needed to finally complete projects that would otherwise remain in the pile of opportunity.

A monthly challenge creates focus, provides a deadline, and gives painters a reason to try new techniques and push their skills further.

Why Painting Challenges Make You a Better Miniature Painter

One of the biggest challenges in miniature painting is consistency.

Most hobbyists have far more miniatures than they have time to paint.

Regular painting challenges help solve this problem by providing structure and motivation.

Benefits of Monthly Painting Competitions

Benefit Why It Matters
Consistent Practice Improves brush control, layering and highlighting
Project Completion Helps reduce the backlog of unpainted miniatures
Community Interaction Encourages learning from other painters
Friendly Competition Provides motivation to improve
New Techniques Encourages experimentation and growth

Whether you enjoy fantasy miniatures, sci-fi miniatures, D&D miniatures, RPG miniatures or wargaming miniatures, regular painting projects are one of the fastest ways to improve.

What We've Learned From The First Months Of The Painting League

One of the biggest advantages of launching a new community project is the feedback it generates.

We've listened carefully to participants and identified several areas where we believe the overall experience can become even better.

The goal isn't simply to run a miniature painting competition.

The goal is to build one of the best miniature painting communities in the UK.

Improvements We Want To Make

Faster Dispatch Times

One of our biggest priorities moving forward is reducing waiting times.

Our target is simple:

Dispatch Painting League entries within 3 working days wherever possible.

The sooner a miniature arrives, the more time painters have to enjoy the challenge.

Whilst occasional delays can happen during busy periods, faster fulfilment remains a major focus.

Easier Entry Submission

Submitting finished work should be simple.

Currently, submissions are handled manually, which works but isn't ideal as the Painting League grows.

Over the coming months we're exploring ways to improve this process.

Potential improvements include:

  • Dedicated submission forms

  • Easier photo uploads

  • Automated confirmation emails

  • Better tracking of entries

  • Clearer submission instructions

The aim is to remove as much friction as possible from the process.

Better Communication Throughout The Month

Many participants have told us they would like more updates throughout the competition.

This is something we completely agree with.

Ideas currently being explored include:

  • Monthly progress emails

  • Submission reminders

  • League table updates

  • Painter spotlights

  • Competition countdowns

  • Hobby tips and tutorials

We want entrants to feel involved throughout the month rather than only hearing from us at the beginning and end of the competition.

Improved Overall Experience

The Painting League is still young, which means we have a huge opportunity to refine and improve the experience.

Areas we're currently reviewing include:

  • Entry process

  • Dispatch speed

  • Submission systems

  • Communication

  • Judging transparency

  • Community engagement

  • Prize structures

Our objective is to create a competition that hobbyists genuinely look forward to entering every month.

Why Community Matters In The Hobby

Miniature painting has always been about more than simply putting paint on resin.

The hobby thrives when people share ideas, learn from one another and celebrate each other's work.

Whether you enjoy tabletop gaming, roleplaying games, fantasy wargaming, army building or miniature collecting, being part of a community makes the hobby more enjoyable.

That's one of the reasons the Painting League exists.

Not just to award prizes, but to encourage painters to take part, improve their skills and share their work with others.

Where To Buy High-Quality 3D Printed Miniatures In The UK

The popularity of 3D printed miniatures continues to grow throughout the UK.

Modern resin printing allows hobbyists to access an enormous range of detailed fantasy miniatures, sci-fi miniatures, character miniatures and monster miniatures for painting, collecting and tabletop gaming.

When choosing a supplier, it's worth considering:

  • Print quality

  • Resin quality
